Privacy Policy

Trove AI ("we," "our," or "the app") is operated by Ashray Chowdhry. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. These are used solely for authentication and to identify your account.

Saved content. When you share a video URL to Trove AI, we store:

• The URL you shared
• Metadata extracted from the link (title, thumbnail, platform, creator name)
• AI-generated summaries, tags, categories, action items, and a TL;DR
• Transcript text (fetched from captions or generated via speech recognition)

User-created content. Notes, collections, and organization choices you make within the app.

Usage analytics. We collect anonymous usage events (e.g., videos saved, features used) tied to a random device identifier — not your Apple ID or advertising identifier. These help us understand which features are valuable and improve the app.

What we do NOT collect. We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, health data, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. How We Use Your Data

• AI processing. Video URLs and metadata are sent to our server to generate summaries, tags, and action items using large language models (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI). Transcripts may be generated using OpenAI Whisper.
• Cloud sync. Your saved videos and account data are stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS) so they persist across devices.
• Personalization. We use your save history to power features like Rediscover, Explore recommendations, and Ask Trove (AI chat).
• Product improvement. Anonymous usage analytics help us prioritize features and fix issues.

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following services, only as needed to operate the app:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and cloud storage
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered summarization and chat
• OpenAI — AI-powered summarization and speech-to-text transcription
• Cloudflare — API hosting and content delivery
• Google Sign-In — authentication (only if you choose Google sign-in)
• Apple Sign-In — authentication (only if you choose Apple sign-in)

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share your data with advertisers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest (Supabase database encryption). On your device, data is stored in SwiftData's local database and protected by iOS's built-in data protection.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Locally stored data is deleted immediately upon account deletion.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data — all your saved videos, summaries, and categories are visible in the app
• Delete individual saves — swipe to delete any saved video at any time
• Delete your account — go to Settings > Delete Account to permanently remove all your data from our servers and your device
• Export your data — use the export feature to download your saves

7. Children's Privacy

Trove AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "effective date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
